What exactly is going on here?

I’ll write about whatever moves me, delights me, or irritates me that I absolutely have to tell you about. Or I’ll write about some problem or question that’s been spiraling in my head. Or I’ll talk up whatever book I’m loving at the moment. You’ll read it. (Thank you!) Maybe you’ll take it in and move on, or maybe you’ll leave a comment (thank you!) and I’ll reply. Maybe we’ll have some interesting conversations. We’ll play it by ear. Let’s see.

Did you steal a line from Nick Cave for your title?

(Yes? Sort of? Let’s call it an homage, or borrowing with great love and respect.)

Okay. Cool. Who are you?

I’m a novelist and creative writing instructor. My debut novel, The Revolution of Every Day, won the Ken Kesey Award for Fiction. You can check out some of my short fiction and nonfiction here.
